This show the dishonesty and irresponsibility of wealthy people compared to their elegant background. The mess that people made is described as "ravages" in the book.

Nick's cardinal virtue is honesty. He thinks he might be the only honest one among people like Daisy and Tom. However, his thought is somehow ironic because he sometimes act like one of 'dishonest people'.

Gatsby was the son of a rich family in the Middle West, San Francisco. Even though he was American, he was educated in Oxford, which was like a family tradition. Then he got all the money when every member of his family died. After he got all the money, he traveled around the Europe like Paris, Venice, and Rome. He collected various pieces from those capitals to not feel lonely. Then war happened, and he tried his best to kill himself, however, he survived.

As Nick has mentioned in the book, I felt suspicious at the part where Gatsby said he was educated in Oxford. He hurried his words when he said this perhaps because it was not true or to hide his past.

Mr.Wolfsheim is an passionate, rich, and careless man. He sounds very passionate when he speaks. He is one of the rich friends of Gatsby. He earned a lot of money by gambling in 1919. However, he seems to make a lot of mistakes because he is not considerate when he talks. For example, he has mistaken that Nick was Gatsby's 'business gonnegtion'.
-What does Jordan Baker reveal about Gatsby?
Jordan tells Nick talks about the hidden part of Gatsby's life, which is Gatsby's past relationship with Daisy. Jordan guessed the reason why Gatsby moved the house is because of Daisy. Gatsby still seems to be obsessed with the memories he had with Daisy.

After Gatsby and Daisy met again, Gatsby tried the best as he could by getting a house that is quite close from that of hers.
