What is identity?
Oscar Wilde defined the definition of identity as “Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.” Identity is things which identify yourself, such as your environment, family, friends, characteristic, and motto etc. To briefly summarize Oscar Wilde's opinion over identity, he believed that identity is not your uniqueness and formed by others. I agree to his opinion. To use myself as an example, my identity has formed by various experiences I had in different countries. By living and experiencing different things in various countries such as France, Japan, and Korea, I became more independent, mature, active, and brave. Moreover, those experiences were led by my parents, therefore my parents can be compared to "other people"(in Oscar's quote) who influenced or helped to form my present identity.
